Just a thought...
At the current moment I am super frustrated with politics. Not necessarily what is happening in Washington or what the President is or is not doing. Rather, I am frustrated with uneducated people making accusations that quite frankly do not make sense. I am guessing these people are the people that sit at home and listen to FOX news all day long, with the ideas of Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, and Sean Hannity seeping into their poor little brains. I do not care that you are super conservative. I do care that before you join all of these ridiculous facebook groups asking for Obama to die or saying congress doesn't deserve a raise (which is particularly funny to me, seeing as the majority of money a congressmen or senator makes really doesn't come from the paycheck they get from the government (have you ever heard of lobbyists people?) plus, wouldn't you want to vote a pay raise for yourself if the opportunity arose? and since minimum wage has gone up the cost of living has gone up). And most of all, why does it matter that the President smokes? Or that so and so drinks? They are normal people. You cannot expect politicians to be perfect. So stop asking me to join this group or that group. Stop listening to Rush Limbaugh. Start educating yourself, try and look at things from both sides of the media. Obviously if you listen solely to conservative media, you are going to have a one sided view on politics. Seriously, find some left wing media. Then make your judgment. In the mean time, keep me out of it. Love, Katie

Update :)
It has been a pretty busy month. With finals quickly approaching, Jacob and I rarely see each other. We have both been so busy with papers, tests, news stories, declaring minors/majors, meetings with department heads, and scholarship apps. It has been ridiculous!! I am so looking forward to this semester being over.
I only have four papers left this semester! It is weird to think I have already written sixteen. Thank goodness its almost done!! The last paper I had to write was actually pretty cool. Our assignment was to "play" and then write a reflection of some sort. So for playing we bought kites!!! So cool! I got a Yo Gabba Gabba kite, and Jacob got an airforce kite. Mine is way cuter. :D I love it!!
Jacob declared his minor last week, and got sixteen extra credits for passing a basic level of Portuguese. It works sorta like an AP class. You pass the test you get college credit, and instead of just getting a P like you would for AP classes, you get the grade you got in the class. So Jacob got 16 credit hours of A's on his transcript. And now, Jacob can graduate a semester early!!! Which means, coming December, Jacob will have a degree! Holy CRAP!! So maybe we won't be stuck in Logan forever.
I, however, still have at least a year left. Grr...Originally, my adviser told me that if I took two four week history classes this summer I could graduate sooner. So I went to register for summer semester, and it turns out the classes aren't being taught at all. So at the end of this semester I will need 45 credits. Which means a year from this December I can graduate. Hopefully, we stick around Utah after Jacob graduates so I can graduate. If not, online school will be the way for me....
I am just thrilled that Jacob can graduate, and start doing something that he loves :)

Epic Easter
This year for Easter we invited my parents, my siblings, and my grandpa to come to our house for Easter dinner. And as my father would say it was epic. Easter for Jacob and Katie began with the traditional dying of the eggs. Last Easter, Jacob didn't go home, so he didn't get an Easter basket. So being the wonderful girlfriend that I was, I made a Jacob a pretty sweet Easter basket. It just so happened to include a Hannah Montana themed egg dying kit. So guess what we did?!?! (Pictures to follow)
On Sunday I made a pretty sweet meal if I do say so myself. It was my first attempt to make a Ham and it turned out nicely. (Which is good seeing as I got stuck with all the leftovers.) A very entertaining game of Apples to Apples followed. I am still not sure that my Grandpa understood what he was doing. It seemed that he would just take the green card whenever he felt like it. And somehow "Lemon Meringue Pie" was the best answer for tired and true. I loved it. And as typically of every game I play with my father, he found a way to cheat. And so naturally he won. Until we realized what he was doing. Pretty sure Logan ended up winning. Lucky duck. I am terrible at Apples to Apples. I suppose no one understands my thought process. So that was Easter...
School is still happening. This time next month I will be getting ready for San Diego and the Price is Right. And if Logan has his way, Universal Studios. We will see. I am really excited for the semester to be over. Mostly so I can prove to myself that I am not an idiot and so I can raise my GPA enough to get into a major. Sheesh. That won't be to much of an issue. If I try really hard (which I probably won't) I still have the chance to get a 4.0 (which won't happen). But its still a nice thought to think that this late in the semester its still a possibility.
Its looking like Jacob will be graduating in December, so who knows where life will take us. Hopefully some place warm that doesn't have an inversion, or snow. He is very much liking the idea of being done with school, and starting a job that he loves. I am very envious of this, and continue to pray that the day I graduate college comes really soon.

10 things...
So I usually don't post so often, but I am super duper bored. So I was thinking about all the things I have learned about myself, Jacob, and marriage in the six months (I know long time right?) that we have been married.
10. I am not always right.
I wish I was always right, but sometimes I am not. Most of the time I am right, but every once in awhile, I am not.
9. I snore. And not very quietly.
I figure this is acceptable, because I don't have to hear myself, and as long as I fall asleep first, I don't have to hear Jacob snore.
8. My idea of clean is not the same as Jacob's.
While Jacob is a wonderful helper and is always willing to take his fair share of the chores, he has much different standards of what clean is. However, he is learning how I think things should be done, and he is very helpful and willing to adapt.
7. I can get away with a lot based solely on the looks I give Jacob.
Once upon a time, sweet and innocent eyes used to get me out of trouble with my parents, but they caught on, and sweet and innocent eyes no longer did the trick. For Jacob, they still do the trick.
6. Sometimes Jacob irritates me, and sometimes I frustrate him.
Being married isn't always the fluffy lovey dovey junk (not bad, we are just past that) that being engaged was. And that is okay. It is important for us to share our feelings, and they aren't always happy ones.
5. Jacob likes my cooking.
Which makes me happy.
4. I still hate doing dishes.
I cannot wait for the day that we get a dishwasher. Until then, at least I have Jacob who doesn't mind doing them.
3. Nothing beats time spent with my best friend.
Even though we are both really busy, and have weird schedules because of school, there is nothing better than knowing Jacob will be home soon, and we can spend some time together before we go to bed.
2. My parents are smarter than I ever thought they were.
What can I say? They were right about a lot of stuff. If only I had figured this out so much earlier.....

Spring Break??
Well...Spring Break came, and unfortunately it is on its way out. And sadly, I did not accomplish anything on my to do list...We started out the break by spending a few days at Jacob's parents. One of Jacob's cousins just got back from his mission, so we went to spend some time with him. On Sunday afternoon, the March Madness brackets were announced, and I had a great time watching Jacob freak out because he didn't think Utah State was going to get in. It game down the the two slots that they might be able to take, and Jacob was pacing the room as nervous as can be. When they finally announced Utah State Jacob jumped on his parent's bed and started screaming! It was so funny! His sister was upstairs taking a nap until she heard the screaming. She thought Jacob was dying because he was screaming so loudly.
Monday night we went to Jacob's brother's house so I could get my hair done. While we were there, my brother-in-law put the two boys into the bath, and left them in there. It was probably about a half an hour later when it was realized that the water was still running. So Jacob ran in to shut the water off, and sure enough it had spilled over the side, and had almost reached the carpet. The kids were up to their necks in water, but they were as happy as could be. Jacob asked Dace why he did tell anyone the tub was full. Dace's response? "Jacob, it's full." And Kale decided to help the water out of the tub by filling up a bucket, and dumping it on Jacob's feet. Sooo funny!
On Tuesday we went to spend some time with my parents. Jacob and I got enlisted to help my mom rearrange the basement. That was...well....it was interesting to say the least. And I was so sad when we ran out of time...NOT... That night we went to one of Jacob's (my brother) basketball games. That was pretty hilarious. Church ball is very special. On Wednesday my dad wanted to take us shooting. And I learned that I really stink at shooting a moving target. Give me a .22 and a stationary target and I will kill it, but give me a shotgun and some clays, and you will have a great waste of money. Oh well, at least my dad and Jacob did a good job....
Thursday morning we came back to Logan, with the intention of doing some spring cleaning and some homework. Instead I decided it was time to use the last of our Bed, Bath, and Beyond gift cards. Much more entertaining. And I got the cutest shower curtain ever. I have been begging Jacob for months to let me get a new shower curtain, but there was no way he would let me pay fifty dollars for one, even if it was with a gift card. But this shower curtain was on clearance plus I had a five percent off coupon, so I paid twenty five bucks less for it than if I had bought it three months ago. And it matches my bathroom so perfectly. I love it. And its probably kind of sad how excited I am every time I see it.
This weekend I was so excited to discover that they put the nets back up at the tennis courts. Jacob has been trying to teach me, and maybe one day I will get good. But for now its just fun to goof around and play! Plus its great exercise. I love it, and now that they weather is nice, we plan on playing a lot more. We can also go on walks without freezing our bums off, which is so nice. I am really starting to love it here in Logan, which is something I didn't think would ever happen. But its so great, and its such a beautiful time of year. The grass is starting to green up and the flowers are starting to come up. I LOVE IT!! Yay spring!!
So I guess our spring break wasn't really that relaxing, but it was fun. We are used to staying busy, so it wasn't a big deal to us. When we find down time we really don't know what to do with ourselves. One day (maybe) our lives will slow down a little and we will get some time to do nothing.

The Uneventful Events...Doctor Laura thinks I'm right
Not much to update here. Spring break is upon us (Thank goodness). The semester seems to be flying by (Thank goodness)! Its been a strange adjustment, going to school (that is like 39.9 times bigger than Eastern Utah), being married, and figuring out what I really want to do with my life. Thankfully, I have a wonderful husband who is very supportive. On the first day of school I made him promise me that he would make me go to class unless I was dying, there was a family emergency, or there was a basketball game. Luckily he has held true to his promise, and school is coming along great. I am so thankful for my parents and their support too! Whenever I have a horrible day, I know my Mommy is one phone call away! Love it!
Next year my little brother is planning on coming to school here in Logan. Can I just mention how excited I am! It's going to be so fun! Even if he thinks I am going to fed him on a regular basis. I am really looking forward to the fall. We haven't decided for sure yet, but if Jake wants to, he can graduate in December, which has its ups and its downs. I am also trying to get accepted into the education program (which is no easy task at USU), so depending on what happens there, we might be sticking around for another year.
Speaking of Jake, last week he produced his first newscast. He was so EXCITED! It is reassuring to him when he realizes how fun producing is (seeing as that is what he wants to do with his life). I haven't seen the tapes yet, but I hear everything went perfect. I am so proud of him. He was the second first year newscast student to get the opportunity to produce, so he must be doing something right.
Yesterday, we went to the last two regular season basketball games. Seven hours at the Spectrum. It is always worth it, because we get amazing seats. Once the men's game was over, we got to run out onto the floor and celebrate the WAC championship. It was so much FUN!! I loved it, and will miss it so much. Here is hoping the post season works out fantastically!
Also on a less exciting/happy note, last month my Nana died. I know that I am slow in mentioning this, but for me, I think its important that I write my feelings. I love my Nana so much! She is the most amazing woman. She has so many qualities that I aspire to have. I will miss her dearly, but know that I can see her again someday. She is the textbook definition of a grandma. She has so much love for everyone, and is the least judgmental person I know. I think everyone could take a lesson from her :). I love my Nana. She is the best. I miss her a lot, but know she is in a better place.

Valentine's Day
So this was my first valentine's day with Jacob. Not having a lot of money, we agreed to do things that would not really affect our budget. We also decided it would be fun to stretch out our celebration into the whole weekend. So Friday we went bowling (with coupon for free games) and because we went in the afternoon, we got a cheaper price. After Jake kicked my butt, we went window shopping :D which is one of my favorite activities. On Saturday we started out with our normal Saturday morning activity of going to the plasma center. Fun right? Jake had a news story to do on animal abuse so we took a trip out to the humane society. I was nervous because I thought I would get attached and really want to take some of the animals home with me. I did want to take them home. They were all so cute!! Especially the kitties and this little black lab. Once we finished that, it was time for dinner. I made us a nice, but inexpensive dinner. It was so awesome. To finish out our weekend we geeked out and watched the Star Wars trilogy. I hadn't seen those movies in years, so it was really strange. Those movies make so much more sense now that I understand what is going on. So that is my super fantastic weekend with my Jake! I love him! Being married to him is the best thing ever! :)
